Portland, OR
43,000 sf
Completed in 2001
Portland Children's Museum houses engaging hands-on exhibits for kids aged 6 months to 13 years. Kids can fill miniature grocery carts at the KidCity Market, serve their family and friends at the play cafe, make music with giant-sized instruments, splash through Water Works and create colorful works of art.
The Museum moved to its current location in 2001, following a full renovation to the 43,000 sf building. THA designed the interiors with enough flexibility to accommodate the changing exhibits. The excitement of children's voices and the location shared with a charter school necessitated careful acoustic design.
