The 38,000 sf Center for Visual Arts includes studios for painting, sculpture, ceramics, metal and wood working, drawing, digital arts, printmaking and book arts. The building also contains independent faculty studios and offices, multiple public display and social spaces, senior studios and gallery space. In direct response to the Colleges high expectations for air quality, THA and the consultant team employed innovative mechanical systems that treat the studios as lab spaces and also created isolated "spray booths" for the use of solvents. The building is oriented to maximize light exposure in the studio spaces and was designed to LEED® standards, though not seeking formal LEED Certification.
